I can't believe that 12 years ago today we went to the hospital not knowing if I was truly in labor or not and we were both so excited and nervous to be first time parents. You were such a cute little baby and we were so excited to be your mom and dad.
You have been such a blessing in every way. You have a sweet spirit and a gentle, loving heart. You are kind, shy, pretty, and funny. You are a wonderful friend and you love your friends with all your heart. You love animals and you would take them all home and keep them if you could. You love to draw(just like your daddy) and you love to dance-you have a natural ability in that area-great rhythm.
You are a wonderful big sister too (even when the boys drive you crazy-you keep your cool pretty well.)
Your smile can light up a room and your laughter is contagious. We are so proud of you and the lady you are becoming. You are concerned for you friends and their salvation-and you are pretty brave in sharing your beliefs and wanting your friends to have a relationship with Christ. We pray that you will always stand strong for what you believe and are never afraid to share Jesus with others. I still am in awe that God chose us to be your mom and dad. What an honor that is-I am still so thankful that two years ago He chose to spare your life when you drowned and that He gave us each day since to appreciate being your parents even more.
Happy 12th Birthday our sweet Alyssa Mae Jones! You truly our such a blessings to all who know and love you. I look forward to watching you grow up even more and the great memories we will have to share in the future.
I hope you have a wonderful, blessed day.
All my love,

Kelly-
Thanks so much-we are so blessed she is a really good girl and of course I am her mama so I think she is beautiful (both inside and out.)
Yes, two years ago June she went swimming with some family friends and got out in water that was over her head and though she could swim she wasn't a super swimmer at the time. She was playing on a swimming board and didn't know she had gotten out deeper than she could touch so when she came down off the board, she went under and didn't have her mouth closed and wasn't prepared to go under and took in water. The pool was very crowded and no one heard her screaming and she started to panic and went under taking in more water. The friends that had taken her and just looked away for an instant but when they looked back and couldn't see her they ran to the pool and dove in screaming for the life guard who also jumped in, she was blue-she had stopped breathing. They pulled her out and a women who was there swimming (who was a nurse by profession) ran over and started CPR on here and got her breathing again. They called us when they were on their way to Children's hospital in TN (where my in-laws live) we were there visiting them at the time. It was one of the scariest things I have ever gone through. When we got to the hospital she was strapped down and they were running all sorts of tests, IV;s-e-rays, the whole 9 yards. The thing they were most worried about was brain damage from being without oxygen. She had to spend the night and be watch for water in her lungs and her levels . Praise God, she was ok and suffered no affects from it all, it was only a miracle. We never were able to find out the name of the lady that saved her life no one knew who she was so we call her our angel. I know God has big things planned for my sweet Alyssa, she is a living testimony to God's great grace and mercy and someday I think He will use that for her to glorify His greatest to others.
I never thought we would live through something like that-for a long time I was afraid to let her do things I wasn't going to be there for since we weren't there the day this happened-but God has slowly taught me that I have to let go of that fear-they are truly on loan to us-they are His and I can't live in fear of what might happen. I still have moments were it is hard for me to let go and let my kiddos do things and sometimes I don't because that day Mike and I both didn't feel good about letting her go but we did and so I go with my gut instinct at times and if we don't really feel good about something we just don't let them do it, but I also know I have to let them be kids and trust God loves them and will take care of them.
June 5th will forever be a day I don't care to ever repeat though.
We have your skirt package up and ready to send out in tomorrows mail.
Have a great night.
Maggie,
Thanks so much-you are so sweet to comment. She did have a great day turning 12. I can't believe that she is 12-it seems like I just had her.
Thanks for the sweet comment on the skirt I made too. It really is not hard-I bet that you could do it if you know how to sew just simple stitches and if you know how to gather-it is really pretty easy. That was a Simplicity Pattern (for Dummies-lol-it really says that on there) number 4206-but it is really easy. I would just make each row a little longer cause it comes out a little short for my liking.
Thanks again sweet girl. Hope you have a great day!
oh my goodness! What an amazing story. I have goosebumps as I am reading it. I would say that lady was an angel indeed! Makes you so thankful for each moment (hence the name of my blog, lol.) Rejoicing with you for that June 5th miracle! Sounds great about the package. I'll let ya know when it arrives. Thnaks again!!!!
Happy 12th birthday to Alyssa. Oh they grow up so fast, don't they?
Wow! What a sweet post! Happy birthday Alyssa!!!
